Most Pacific Energy wood stoves and inserts are steel fireboxes lined with brick and topped with a baffle, and each of those layers wears at its own pace. Chimney Sweep Langley repairs them part by part, and handles the appliance side of the brand's gas units as well, leaving the gas valve and pilot to a separate gas fireplace repair page.
Across the stoves we open in Langley, six groups of parts come up again and again. Each is listed by model and series, so the plate photo decides what we order.
Baffle board and insulation - the board above the fire and the blanket on top of it; the Summit uses an insulation baffle kit, and the Super and Spectrum carry side baffle insulation.
Baffle gasket - a seal around the baffle on Vista, Super, and Summit models that hardens and lets smoke bypass the secondary burn.
Secondary air tubes - the perforated tubes under the baffle; a burned-through rear tube weakens the clean burn.
Firebrick - standard bricks or a full interior set, such as the set listed for the Super 27, replaced when cracked or crumbling.
Door and glass gaskets - rope gaskets sized to each model; the Alderlea door uses a thinner gasket than many larger stoves.
Insert blowers - fan assemblies on Super, Summit, and Neo inserts, replaced when the motor fails or the bearings grind.
The series letter on the plate matters as much as the model, since a Series A and Series B Summit take different trim and baffle parts.
The Alderlea models pair a steel firebox with cast iron doors and panels, and the finish on that iron is easy to damage with a wire brush or a harsh cleaner. A soft brush and a dry cloth are enough once the stove is cold, and touch-ups on painted iron use high-temperature stove paint, applied thin. Ceramic glass is cleaned cold with a damp cloth dipped in fine wood ash, which lifts haze without scratching. Commercial oven cleaners and abrasive pads should never touch it, because they etch the surface and make it fog faster afterwards.
On an insert, the surround panel that covers the gap between the stove and the old fireplace opening dents easily during a renovation, and the right size depends on the insert model and series. A bent surround is straightened or replaced, and the insulation behind it is checked at the same time. Keeping the air wash clear of ash, and burning dry wood, does more for clean glass than any cleaner.
A full firebox rebuild on these stoves follows the same order every time. The air tubes come out first, then the baffle board and its insulation, which gives access to the bricks behind. Cracked or crumbling bricks are lifted out and replaced, and any gaps where bricks have shifted are closed so the steel behind stays protected.
The baffle goes back with fresh insulation and a new seal where the model uses one, the tubes are refitted and pinned, and the door and glass gaskets are renewed. We finish with a paper test at the door, a smoke test at the baffle edges, and a short fire to confirm the secondary flames appear under the tubes. Those flames are the sign that the rebuilt firebox is sealed and burning cleanly again. Owners in Langley often notice longer burns and cleaner glass straight away.
Stoves from this maker are built to be rebuilt, and an older one with straight steel and a sound door is almost always worth the work. Even early stoves such as the D-series Super Spectrum can usually be returned to service with bricks, gaskets, and a baffle, using approved replacement parts where originals are no longer made.
Replacement comes up when the firebox steel has warped or cracked, the door frame no longer lines up, or an insert body has corroded through after years of a leaking chimney cap. In those cases we price the rebuild and a new unit next to each other, explain what each would give you, and let you choose. A stove that has been heating a Langley home since the 1990s often has more life in it than its owner expects.
Every repair visit begins with the stove cold and the ash removed. We inspect the baffle, tubes, bricks, and gaskets, run the insert blower if there is one, and sweep the flue if it needs it. Parts are quoted from the plate and series letter before ordering. Our technicians are licensed and insured for wood and gas fireplace repair alike, so a visit to a home with both kinds of appliance can cover both.
